Srinagar, Jan 04: After the killing of a student at Boniyar, Baramulla by Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF), the Deputy Inspector General CISF Shika Goel today said that all the units of the CISF were told last September not to wait for the arrival of local Police and take any step to safeguard the security of an installation.
He claimed a circular in this regard was issued on September 30, 2011 which stated that it had been noticed that some units were failing to take proactive action in protecting and securing the undertakings. However, when KNS contacted Goel, he refused to comment on the issue and said that it was not his field to speak about.
The killing of Altaf Ahmad Sood has raised many questions as to why the CISF did not call the local police to handle the matter since the force is not on counter insurgency law and order duty.
DIG operations CISF Jaideep Prassad while talking to KNS over phone from New Delhi said, “I am not aware about the circular, I will check it out whether it exists or not.” On asking about the recent Boniyar firing incident that claimed a precious life, he said that DG CISF has visited the place and ordered an internal inquiry. “We will take action as soon as possible after the inquiry is completed,” Prasad told KNS.
