New Delhi, Dec 20: A two day seminar “Delhi Dialogue” organized by Qaid-e-Azam Institute and Centre for Dialogue and Reconciliation ( CDR ) concluded here on Monday.
The seminar was attended by diplomats, academicians, journalists and politicians from both India and Pakistan. At the end of the seminar the participants supported the involvement of Kashmiri leadership in the decision making dialogue process.
“We demand a genuine space for non-violent democratic movement which will ensure that it will not take a violent turn. We demand the release of political prisoners and release of youth arrested for their involvement in non-violent activities,” the participants demanded.
They also said that CBMs were not an end in themselves. “It has to be ensured that the relevance of Kashmiri CBMs particularly facilitation of cross-LoC economic interests through the recently established further divided families will be genuinely facilitated. Facilitation of meeting between economic stakeholders is a must,” they added.
The participants welcomed the decision of Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan to facilitate meetings between economic stakeholders.
“There is a strong apprehension amongst Kashmirs that both India and Pakistan have put the solution of Kashmir on the hold. We recommend that a group of eminent persons from India and Pakistan meet the Prime Ministers of both India and Pakistan to seek their public commitment for peace. We recommend that all persons be allowed to travel across the Loc and Visa regulations should be relaxed,” they demanded.

Current Affairs Duniya TV, Aijaz Hyder, Director Jinah Institute, Malik Ahmad Khan member National Assembly Pakistan and Asiya Riyaz, Dir. Pakistan Institute of Development.
From India Raja Mohan, Senior Fellow Center for Policy Research, Raj Mohan Gandhi, Chairman CDR, Salman Hyder, former Foreign Secretary, Ravi Sahni, Lt Gen (R) and fellow Vivakandan Institute, Sham Saran, former Foreign Secretary and Chairman Research and Information, Wajahat Habibullah, Chairman National Commission for Minorities, Suhasini Hyder, Deputy Editor CNN IBN, Shubha Bharve and Prem Shankar Jha.
Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik who also attended the seminar urged both India and Pakistan to solve the vexed Kashmir issue without any further delay.
He highlighted non-violent movement and Human Rights violation issues in Kashmir.
“Kashmiris have shown the transition from violent to non-violent movement since 2008 and now it is moral duty of civil society of India and world to help them in achieving their rights,” he added.
