Srinagar, Dec 12: Militant outfit Jamaiet ul Mujahedeen has claimed responsibility of Sunday’s attack on Law and Parliamentary affairs Minster Ali Mohammad Sagar’s in which one PSO was killed and two others critically injured.
In a faxed statement sent to KNS, the outfit spokesman Jameel Ahmad said, “Al Jabar squad of the organization had laid an ambush last evening near Shah Mohallah, Nawab Bazar with an aim to kill senior leader of National Conference Sagar.”
Jameel asserted that the attack was a reaction to Dr. Farooq Abdullah’s recent statement regarding his intentions of reopening of liquor shops and cinema halls in the Valley.
While criticizing National conference, Jamaiet spokesman said that the outfit has no second thought about the fact that National Conference is sole responsible for strengthening Indian “occupation” in Kashmir. He warned that similar attacks shall be carried out against all mainstream political parties in future.
Meanwhile, another lesser known militant outfit Islamic Movement also claimed responsibility of the attack.
An unidentified man called KNS office this afternoon and introduced himself as a member of Islamic movement of Kashmir. He claimed that it was his organization that carried out attack on Sagar’s house.
