Srinagar, Dec 8: A female body was recovered from a river stream in Kupwara district of Kashmir valley, police said on Thursday.
The body was identified to be of Jana Begum wife of Siraj-ud-Din Badana resident of Awoora, Trehgam. Sources said that the lady had gone towards nearby forest of Awoora for collection of firewood on Wednesday.
Sources added that she could probably have slipped from the hilltop causing her death. The body was handed over to legal heirs for last rites.
Police said that it has initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC in Police station Trehgam.
