Srinagar, November 14: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani Monday warned of “revolutionary future” in Kashmir which he said can’t be stopped by any force.
Addressing a press conference at his Hyderpora residence, Geelani said, “People will once again rise against the atrocities perpetuated by the army and other agencies on them. The revolution will be such that no force can stop that.”
“During my peaceful rally last Friday in Sopore town there was some commotion in which people caught a person and recovered a pistol from his possession. The person belonged to the army. His identity card said he was Naik Kamlesh Misra of the army. Police have also registered an FIR in the incident following our written complaint,” he added.
Geelani claimed the act was clearly meant to threaten his life and disrupt a “peaceful” rally.
“The army also later confirmed he was part of the army's covert team. Why was he present at our rally with a weapon?” he asked.
Geelani claimed he had been attacked 18 times in the past by the security forces, the first time in 1996 when he alleged a rocket was fired at his house.
The Hurriyat (G) chairman expressed serious concern over Army and police officers delivering lectures in educational institutions. “I appeal to the students that they should tell these officers in clear terms that they are the killers of Kashmiris,” he added.
