Surankote (Poonch): Jammu and Kashmir Police today filed a charge-sheet in a local court here against three persons, including a Special Police Officer (SPO) and a Territorial Army (TA) soldier, in infamous Surankote fake encounter case.
The accused SPO Noor Hussain and soldier Abdul Majeed were arrested after an alleged militant killed by them turned out to be a local civilian in August, this year.
Police said the duo with the help of another accused Abdul Haq allegedly staged the killing of an unidentified mentally challenged civilian from Rajouri as part of a conspiracy to gain personal benefits.
In the charge-sheet filed under section 302, 364 and 32 of RPC and 3/25 of Arms Act against the trio, police has cited more than 50 witnesses and collected several other circumstantial evidence against the accused.
It has been alleged that the accused picked up the deceased from Rajouri on August 4 and after staying in a local hotel took him to Sangla village where a fake encounter was staged.
The police had earlier constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Additional SP Yogal Manhas to probe the case. A magisterial probe is also pending in the matter.
Meanwhile, the identity of the youth remained a mystery despite the fact that some local persons have stacked their claims. Police has sent the blood samples of the deceased to FSL in Hyderabad for DNA sampling.
