Srinagar: Describing the discovery of unmarked graves as serious human issue, the Hurriyat (G) on Saturday alleged that New Delhi was trying its best to deflect the attention of international community from it.
“For this purpose, New Delhi has assigned an active role to the politicians in Jammu Kashmir. The ongoing political wrestling match in the state is more linked to this plan than the custodial killing of Syed Yousuf. All the pro-India politicians irrespective of their party affiliations are taking instructions from New Delhi on this count and acting upon these accordingly,” said the Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar in a statement.
“Although Yousuf’s killing is highly condemnable, but why these politicians remained silent when serious incidents of murders were taking place in Valley. Where were they when 121 youth were killed in target firing? They never felt the need for judicial enquiries in these killings. They should have resigned from their seats over the discovery of unmarked graves and supported the cause of people. Instead of this, they tried to push this human issue to the background to keep their masters in good humour. Custodial deaths are a routine matter in Kashmir and so far about 10000 incidents of custodial deaths have taken place, but these politicians never raised their voice against these inhuman acts in such a way are they are raising now against oneparticular incident,” said Akbar.
The spokesman said the Shopian tragedy, Machil encounter, killing of hundreds of innocent youth including Wamiq Farooq, Zahid Farooq, Anayat and Tufail Matto took place soon after Omar Abdullah took over as chief minister. “These incidents were more serious and sordid than killing of Yousuf,” he said.
