New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has deputed one of its senior officers, Superintendent of Police S P Pani, to Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir to find the “real sender” of the email which claimed the involvement of Harkat-ul-Jihad Islami (HuJI) in the September 7 Delhi High Court blast.
The email was traced to a cybercafe in Kishtwar. Police arrested the owner, his brother, and an employee along with a college student who was initially suspected to have sent the mail. Following interrogation, however, all four were let off. Subsequently, two other youngsters who had used the cafe around the time the email was sent were picked up, but they too were released.
The fact that a senior NIA officer has now been sent to Kishtwar indicates the agency is focused on probing any possible J&K link to the attack. The J&K Police on Monday detained two more youth from Kishtwar for questioning.
The police also wrote to the chiefs of the Anti-Terrorism Squads of states across the country, urging them to contact the J&K Police before detaining any Kashmiri suspect.
The Jammu and Kashmir government has been worried about the possibility of arrests of Kashmiri students and traders as suspects in the attack. Two Kashmiri traders had been picked up in Alwar for their alleged similarity with sketches of the suspects issued by the NIA and Delhi Police.
