Congress president Sonia Gandhi will be arriving here Monday on a day's visit and is expected to address party issues in Jammu and Kashmir, party sources said.
Sonia Gandhi will interact with the party leaders and workers at Basholi, a hilly town, north-east of Jammu on May 23 and is expected to discuss the future Congress strategy in the state, they said.
A high-ranking party functionary told IANS that Gandhi has been closely monitoring the developments in the state and wanted the party to expand its base in all the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
'We will apprise her about the success in the panchayat elections which have shown that Congress is strong at the grass-roots level,' the party functionary told IANS.
Gandhi, accompanied by Defence Minister A.K. Antony, will also be laying the foundation stone of a bridge across river Ravi in Basholi.
