Srinagar: Kashmir Premier League (KPL) started its first match in Pulwama yesterday in which eight cricket teams participated.
According to a press release issued, Peace 11 Pulwama won the first match with Tral Taskers. Kashmir Premier League (Chinar Cup) being organized under the aegis of HQ 15 Corps aims to find the finest talent in the game of Cricket from the Kashmir valley.
The tournament has been organized by 55rr (grenadiers) under the aegis of 12 sector RR/HQ victor force from 16 May - 23 May 2011 is an effort in the same direction. The competition aims at engaging and encouraging the youth of Pulwama district to develop sportsmanship spirit and to further select a District level team that will participate in Chinar Cup 2011.
The tournament has a total of 8 teams from various villages in and around Pulwama. The names of the teams are as under:-
*Bunera Bulls
*Dangerpora Dragons,
*Kakapora Kangaroos,
*Naman Nomads,
*Peace 11,
*Tral Tuskers,
*Pulwama Panthers,
*Washbugh Wolves.

The tournament is being played on a league cum knockout basis in accordance with the rules of IPL T-20 cricket. The teams are divided in two groups. Top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals to be played on 22 May 2011 followed by the grand finale on May 23.
