JAMMU — The Administrative Council (AC), chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, has granted approval for a significant 50% increase in honorarium for 2417 Rehbar-e-Khel (ReK) physical education teachers of the Youth Services and Sports Department in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

During the meeting, attended by prominent officials including Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, and Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary, the decision to enhance the honorarium was ratified.

The move follows recommendations from a High-Powered Committee, led by the Chief Secretary, established for this purpose in 2021. The committee had proposed a 50% hike in honorarium for Rehbar-e-Khel teachers, a recommendation now endorsed by the Administrative Council.

The increase in honorarium aims to incentivize and motivate ReK teachers, encouraging them to further promote and popularize sports activities within schools across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

SRINAGAR — The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Monday clarified that it has no plans to disengage the employees working under Rehber-e-Khel, Rehbar-e-Janglat and NYC schemes.

In a tweet, J&K Directorate of Information and Public Relations, as per the news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO), refuted the reports and clarified that it has no plans to disengage the employees working under Rehber-e-Khel, Rehbar-e-Janglat and NYC scheme.

“This is to clarify that the Govt of J&K has no plans to disengage employees who are working under Rehber-e-Khel, Rehbar-e-Janglat and NYC scheme,” DIPR J&K tweeted.

SRINAGAR — The government has decided to re-advertise Rehbar-e-Janglat, Rehbar-e-Zirat and Rehbar-e-Khel posts through the J&K Services Selection Board with “additional weightage and age relaxation” to be given to those engaged on these posts.

According to a communication to Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Forest Ecology and Environment Department, Undersecretary to Government, the matter regarding the issues of Rehbar-e-Janglat was placed before a Committee, constituted vide Government order (No. 294- JK(GAD) of 2020) dated 27.02.2020.

“The committee has recommended that all the posts shall be re-advertised through SSB and additional weightage and age relaxation can be considered to Rehbar-e-Janglat candidates so that they can apply afresh against re-advertised posts through SSB,” it said.

The recommendations of the Committee, the order states, have been accepted by the Competent Authority.

In this connection, the government directed Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Department of Forest, Ecology and Environment Department to “implement the recommendations of the Committee in letter and spirit.”

It is learnt that similar communication has been made to concerned authorities regarding Rehbar-e-Zirat and Rehbar-e-Khel.

However, regarding the National Youth Corps (NYCs), Principal Secretary to the Government, Youth Services & Sports Department has been informed that the Committee has observed that NYCs are working on a voluntary basis.

“The similar scheme is also at the Government of India level. The scheme in the UT of J&K shall continue to be voluntary and the volunteers will be henceforth governed by the guidelines issued by the Government of India from time to time w.e.f. the date of issuance of the Government Order,” a separate communication, a copy of which lies with GNS, reads.

“Till then, no further engagement shall be made by the Youth Services and Sports Department,” it added.

The recommendations of the Committee have been accepted by the Competent Authority, the communication underlined.

It further reads, "Principal Secretary to the Government, Youth Services and Sports Department has been directed to implement the recommendations of the Committee in letter and spirit under an intimation to this department."
