BARAMULLA — An 8-year-old boy tragically died this evening after falling from a swing at tourist resort Tangmarg's Gogaldara village.

The boy, identified as Farhan Shafi, son of Nazir Ahmad Dar from Nasarpora Khag in Budgam district, was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved.

The incident has cast a pall over the popular resort, known for its scenic beauty and recreational facilities.

Farhan's family and friends have been left devastated by the tragedy, as they remember him as a lively and cheerful child.

Meanwhile, the local police are investigating the circumstances leading to the accident, while the local residents mourn the untimely loss of the young boy.

SRINAGAR — A Jammu & Kashmir Road Transport Corporation bus has been gutted in a fire mishap in Khag area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district, officials said.

According to the reports of news agency KDC, SRTC bus bearing registration number JK0IY-0848, parked at Shunglipora Khag, suddenly caught fire and the bus (made of fiber) was gutted completely in this mishap on Monday at around 7:00 AM.

A police officer confirmed the incident and said the cause of the fire is yet to be known; however, a case under relevant sections of law is being registered in this regard and further investigation is on to get to the bottom of the cause of the fire.

BUDGAM — In a shocking incident, a teenager was arrested in Khag area of central Kashmir's Budgam district on Wednesday for sodomising a minor boy.

As per the news agency KDC, the teenager (name withheld) had sodomised a 4-year-old boy (name withheld) in Khag area of the district.

A police officer confirmed the incident to KDC and said that soon after receiving information about the same, Budgam Police swung into action and arrested the teenager.

A case FIR No. 52/22 under Section 377 IPC and 04 POSCO Act has been registered at Police Station Khag and further investigation has also been set into motion.

SRINAGAR — Three days after going missing, body of an army soldier was found in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday and Inspector IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said police was investigating militancy-related angle as well murder aspect.

“Dead body of soldier Sameer Ahmad Malla found. No mark of firearm injury found on his body,” the Inspector General of Police said in a tweet, adding, “Investigation is going on. We are looking into both aspects, (militant) crime & murder.”

Later in a statement, Police said that investigation in the case is going on “vigorously and the circumstances leading to his death are being probed from all the angles.”

On Monday afternoon, the soldier Sameer Ahmad Malla went missing from his Lokipora village of Khag Budgam. The body of the soldier from Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry was recovered from Khag, a police officer told GNS.

Malla was posted in Jammu and had come home on leave as his wife had given birth to their second child recently.

Malla’s role had earlier come under investigation in 2018 for allegedly driving army officer Major Leetul Gogoi and a local girl to a Srinagar hotel. This incident came few months after Major Gogoi was awarded 'Commendation Card' for his 'sustained efforts in counter-insurgency operations’, days after he tied a villager—Farooq Ahmad Dar— to the bonnet of his jeep and paraded him through villages on election day in 2017. For fraternising with the local woman, Gogoi was given six months loss of seniority by the army. (GNS)

SRINAGAR — An Army soldier of Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) was reported missing from central Kashmir's Budgam district on Monday evening, official sources said.

They said that “one Army man of JAKLI identified as Sameer Ahmad Malla son of Mohammad Yaqoob Malla, a resident of Lokripora Khag area, is missing since Monday evening from his native village.”

The soldier was on leave and is posted in Jammu.

A police official confirmed the incident to Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com and said efforts are on to locate his whereabouts.
