URI — The devastating road mishap in Uri claimed three more lives, elevating the total death toll to 10, according to updates from medical authorities.

A doctor at GMC Baramulla was quoted by a local news agency as having said that five injured individuals were transferred to SKIMS Srinagar for advanced medical care. Tragically, two of these injured victims succumbed to their injuries during the night hours, further amplifying the toll of this unfortunate incident.

The deceased have been identified as Shabir Ahmed, son of Abdul Gani, and Shabir Ahmed, son of Mohammed Abdullah, both residents of Bujithallan.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when a Tata Sumo with registration number JK05D 0946 skidded off the road, plunging into a deep gorge in the Boniyar area.

The initial impact resulted in the immediate death of seven individuals, including four females, while eight sustained injuries. Regrettably, within hours, three more victims succumbed to their injuries, compounding the tragedy.

SRINAGAR — A deadly road accident in the Bujhthalan area of Boniyar in Baramulla district has claimed the lives of seven individuals, with eight others currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

An official from the scene informed that the bodies of the victims have been recovered and will be handed over to their families following medico-legal formalities.

The deceased have been identified as Tahira Begum (35), wife of Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh; Ameena Bano (17), daughter of Abdul Gani Sheikh; Mohd Maqbool Sheikh (70), son of Ahmad Sheikh; Mohammad Maqsood Sheikh (35), son of Ghulam Rasool Sheikh of Bujthalan; Abdul Rehman Lone (60), son of Fatah Lone; Sameena Begum (45), wife of Abdul Hameed Sheikh; and Sarwa Begum (55), wife of Late Ghulam Mohd Bakhshi.

"The injured persons are currently being treated at GMC Baramulla," stated the official.
